WCW Saturday Night comes back from a commercial break. The scene fades into the backstage area as we see Mean Gene standing by with David Flair. The Saturday Night logo is in full effect behind the two as Gene raises his microphone to speak. David, still in his street clothes, has his hands on his hips and looks up.
Mean Gene: "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm standing by with a man who's name has been associated with wrestling before he was even born! I'm talking about David Flair. Now, David, there's no doubt in any fans mind, you've got wrestling in your blood. Your father, the legendary Nature Boy Ric Flair. You grew up with the Horsemen around...and now you're back in WCW. There's talk of a second generation of Flair beginning here tonight."
Flair starts responding with a calm tone.
David Flair: "Well, Gene, I guess those rumors would be true. I've spent nearly my whole life in this business. I've watched my father win more titles than anyone in this sport. There's not a doubt in my mind that Ric Flair is the greatest wrestler of all time. And I decided when I was a young boy that I wanted to be just like my father. With that being said, it's pretty obvious there's alot of differences between me and my dad. You can ask anyone around and they'll tell you exactly who Ric Flair is. He's one of the most charismatic, flamboyant wrestlers out there. While I may not have the pazazz my father does Gene, one thing I do have is the technical skill."
"You are a Flair after all!"
"That's right. And I heard my old tag partner out here earlier tonight."
"You're talking about Devon Storm."
"Yeah, Devon Storm, some of you might remember him as Crowbar. I'm sure you remember him Gene. Back then he had a few screws loose. As did I. Let me tell ya. But through that whole time we knew one another inside out. Storm, we've both come along way since those days. I wouldn't be afraid to say we've both done a little growing up. The biggest difference is this. While your career has taken you on a full circle around the world and back to WCW, mine has been spent drying the water behind my ears. I'm not the same green David Flair."
David looks over to Gene with a slight grin.
"Gene, do you know what it's been like growing up the son of Ric Flair? You can name every emotion in the book. I'll be the first to admit, I've led the good life. I've had anything I could ever desire. But when I put on the tights and laced up the boots, and God love him, my father warned me never to do it, but when I laced those boots up Gene, I stepped into shoes so large that King Kong himself couldn't fill them. For the last few years I've been honing my skills. I've been to Japan. I've been to England, Germany, Puerto Rico...all over. I've been trying the do all, be all wrestler that I can.
The point I'm trying to make is this. Devon Storm, for the last few years you've been earning a living applying our trade. You've been going around the territories and doing your thing. Well, put yourself in my shoes Devon. When I step through those ropes, it's not just me in that ring. It's an entire legacy. Everytime I set foot in the ring I'm not only trying to live up to the name, I have to keep it from getting tarnished. It's alot of pressure. Alot of hard work. But it's gotten me to where I am today."
"I think everyone can relate to you on that, David."
"Well, Gene, tonight...I take my first step from the shadows. Devon, I hope you're ready. Because I definately am."
David gives a nod towards the camera as Gene pulls the microphone back.
"Folks, there you have it. David Flair versus Devon Storm later on tonight."
The scene fades out to the ring.
