The scene fades in as WCW Saturday Night is well under way this week. The line up thus far is one hundred percent as the world television title tournament is geared up. As the cameras pan across the arena music hits the speakers. The turner-tron shows a video in slow motion of David Flair chopping someone in the corner and thus revealing immediately who's coming out.
Dressed casually, button up shirt and slacks, Flair walks out onto the ramp with a smile. He looks over the crowd quickly and starts his way down the ramp, clapping a few hands as he's on his way to the ring. Once inside Flair quickly walks over to the ropes, bouncing off of them ala the Nature Boy, but holding on with one hand. He smiles and then reaches down, grabbing a microphone from David Penzer.
"Does it feel good!"
David takes a few steps around as he grins.
"Sarasota, Florida...you are about to be set on fire tonight! Right here, in this very ring, you are going to see a spectacle of matches with one goal in mind. The goal of becoming the next...world television champion. A sixteen man tournament. Names from all over the world. Names from the rings of mixed martial arts, from wrestling's past, wrestling present...heh-ha, and wrestling's future. This tournament could very well be the trend setter that's going to lead WCW in a new direction.
Ya see, the names in this tournament ring out like a true wrestling fans dream come true. Names like Brock Lesnar; a former world champ. Names like Teddy Hart and Ted Dibiase, Jr., wrestling families with heritage. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson; a man that could knock out anyone in a matter of a second. An assortment of talent that's the future of this business and the present. And a guy who's name reflects the epitomy of excellence."
David lowers the mic for a second as the fans cheer him on. He nods slightly and continues.
"Tonight's tournament begins with yours truly going one on one with Matt Cappotelli. Matt, there's not a whole lot I can say about you. I've never seen you wrestle. I've never heard you speak. I don't even think...I've seen you show up in the locker rooms yet. But I can tell you one thing for certain. Tonight is about David Flair proving a point.
Ya see, last week Devon Storm came out here and he ran his mouth all over the arena about how he was going to beat me. I believe the exact quote was...a stepping stone. Yeah. I figure if Cappotelli even shows tonight that he'll say something along those same lines. Something to the effect that David Flair is going to be a stepping stone to the world television title. I've heard it before. I've heard it all before. I've heard everything from the fact that I only got to where I am because of my father. That I so plainly "suck". But the fact of the matter is this...
when I first started in WCW all those years ago, I didn't have one ounce of wrestling ability. I'll admit it. And I'll admit it because I'd never been trained. I didn't know the first thing about an arm bar to an arm breaker because I'd never been in a ring before. But after years of traveling around the world and a dedication to becoming a great wrestler just like my father, I am back in WCW and I am on the path to starting the rise to greatness.
And what that means is that right here tonight, it begins. It begins with a guy named Matt Cappotelli. Like I said Matt, I don't know the first thing about ya. But I do know what I'm capable of. And what that means simply is this. That's good for me, but it's bad for you. I'll see you in the ring."
Flair's music hits as the fans cheer. He calmly passes the microphone back out to David Penzer and exits the ring as the scene fades back up to the announcers.
noone continue.
